OBJECTIVE: SWBAT use modals “Must, Can = Will be able to, Might and May” in an oral and written form.

TIME:  45 mins

WARM UP: Students will make two groups and will go to the front to paste a piece of paper with the meaning of each modal on a chart on the board, and will write a sentence below each modal. This is just to make a review. (8 mins)

PRESENTATION: 

ACTIVITY 1: 

Fill in the gaps…….. Give the students the directions for this activity and give them time to work on it…

Directions: Complete the following sentences with must, will be able to, might or may according to their tenses. Use the words on the box to create logical sentences. (10 mins)

Write on the board the new words for them and explain them orally.

ACTIVITY TWO:

“Group work” Give the directions to the students about this activity and ask them to stand up and make two groups. (Group A and B)

Directions: Divide the class in two groups A and B and give each member of the groups one of the following cards. The students from group A have to look for someone from group B. In pairs, have them say what their problem is and listen to the recommendations given by the other student. Have students use must, may, might or will be able to. (8 mins)

ACTIVITY THREE:

“In pairs” Listening comprehension. (10 mins)

Show the students the picture of an emergency kit………………………..

PRE: talk about emergency kits and what kind of medicine must an emergency kit have…….

·         Ex:  Acetaminophen

·         Ibuprofen

·         Alcohol wipes

·         Antiseptic hand cleanser

·         Medical Adhesive tape

·         Bandage scissors

·         Exam gloves

DURING: Ss will listen to the conversation for the first time to get familiar with it.

The teacher will play it again to make the students take notes about the most important details of the listening.

PRACTICE:

“In pairs” students will answer the following questions:  (from Q a) to Q f))

The teacher will check the answers orally.
